The Archwick Weapon System Colt Canada L119A2 MWS Gas Blowback Rifle is one of the most recognized products Archwick has ever produced. Built as a premium licensed gas blowback replica of the Colt Canada L119A2 SFIW, this rifle combines 5-axis CNC-machined receivers, updated Type A internal components, the first release of Archwick’s AWS gas magazine system, and the distinctive configuration made famous by the well-known “Obi-Wan Nairobi” L119A2 reference.

This is the final production batch of the Archwick L119A2. Once this batch is sold through, this version will not be produced again in the same configuration. For collectors, serious MWS users, and anyone who missed the earlier release, this is the last opportunity to secure one of Archwick’s most famous complete gas blowback rifles while it is still available.

This release is also important for another reason: it is the first Archwick L119A2 to ship with the new AWS — Archwick Weapon System — gas magazine platform. Earlier L119A2 production used third-party MWS-pattern internals and magazines. This final batch introduces Archwick’s own internals as well as aluminum AWS magazine system, developed to improve gas capacity, thermal behavior, air seal, output stability, and long-term support.

Inspired by the Famous “Obi-Wan Nairobi” L119A2 Configuration

The Colt Canada L119A2 became one of the most recognizable modern special operations rifles after the January 2019 Nairobi incident, where the rifle configuration associated with the SAS Trooper “Obi-Wan Nairobi” reference became widely known among military, firearms, and airsoft enthusiasts.

Archwick’s L119A2 was developed around that identity: a compact, monolithic-upper Colt Canada platform with the external profile, controls, furniture style, and overall presence that made the rifle famous. This is not a generic MWS rifle dressed with cosmetic parts. It is a purpose-built licensed replica designed around the L119A2 platform from the receiver set outward.

The Archwick Weapon System L119A2 is fully licensed by Colt Canada through Cybergun and EMG. The platform is based on the Colt Canada L119A2 SFIW — Special Forces Individual Weapon — as used by the UK SAS and the Canadian Special Forces.  It features the defining monolithic upper receiver design, ambidextrous controls, ERGO-style grip, CTR-style stock, and AWS gas blowback operating system.

The real L119A2 is known for its monolithic one-piece upper receiver, which improves structural strength and helps maintain zero across optics, lasers, and accessories mounted to the top rail. Archwick reproduced this core feature using 5-axis CNC machining from billet aluminum rather than relying on a basic cast or simplified receiver construction.

5-Axis CNC-Machined Receiver Set

The receiver set is the foundation of the Archwick L119A2. The upper receiver is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum billet using 5-axis CNC machining to reproduce the L119A2’s monolithic upper geometry with the correct external profile, rail structure, and integrated receiver design.

The lower receiver is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum billet, also using 5-axis CNC machining. 7075-T6 is selected for its high strength and is used here to give the lower receiver a more premium, rigid, and durable foundation than typical airsoft receiver materials.

This level of machining is one of the reasons the Archwick L119A2 has remained one of the company’s signature products. The rifle has the weight, surface detail, receiver definition, and construction quality expected from a collectible premium gas blowback platform.

Updated Type A Internal System

Internally, this final-batch L119A2 uses the most updated version of Archwick’s Type A AWS gas blowback internal system. The Type A system was developed to improve durability, consistency, trigger feel, cycling behavior, and long-term reliability over standard MWS internal components.

The updated Type A internal package includes CNC steel fire-control components and an upgraded bolt carrier group built around stronger materials, improved cycling geometry, and reduced friction points. The goal is simple: a cleaner trigger break, more consistent operation, improved durability, and a more refined gas blowback feel.

Type A CNC Steel Trigger and Bolt System

The Type A trigger and bolt system uses CNC-machined S45C medium-carbon steel components with a QPQ finish for strength, wear resistance, and long-term durability under gas blowback use.

The bolt carrier group features a CNC S45C mid-carbon steel bolt carrier, CNC 6061-T6 roller bolt with Type III hard-anodized finish, CNC POM roller for added durability and shock absorption, reinforced nylon-laced polymer air nozzle set, and reinforced nozzle reset components.

The trigger set features a CNC S45C mid-carbon hammer with stainless steel roller, CNC S45C trigger, sears, and bolt stop, plus a CNC S45C trigger shell with hammer-exposing cuts. The trigger is designed as a single-stage system with an approximate 2.5–3.5 lb trigger pull.

Compared with standard MWS internals, the Type A system is designed to reduce unnecessary friction points, improve trigger feel, increase component durability, and enhance cycling consistency while retaining compatibility with the MWS gas blowback platform.

First Release with AWS Gas Magazine System

This final L119A2 batch is the first release to ship with Archwick’s AWS — Archwick Weapon System — AR GBB magazine. The AWS magazine is a major upgrade from the third-party magazine previously used in earlier product photography and earlier L119A2 releases.

The AWS magazine uses a lightweight aluminum-alloy body and weighs approximately 420g, making it around 8% lighter than the original MWS magazine. Capacity is 36 rounds, giving users a realistic gas blowback magazine format with a practical field capacity.

Gas capacity has been increased to 14g, approximately 17% more than the original 12g MWS magazine capacity. This larger internal gas volume is designed to improve shot consistency, reduce gas starvation, and support more stable operation across semi-auto and full-auto shooting.

• Internal reinforcement screw: M5x135 internal reinforcement structure helps prevent pin-hole elongation and deformation.

Testing with a full 14g gas charge showed strong performance across multiple temperature and gas conditions, including HFC-134A at 26°C, green gas at 5°C, green gas at 26°C, and stable cycling at 38°C. In benchmark testing, the AWS magazine supported full-auto 36-round mag dumps and semi-auto 72-round firing cycles with full bolt lock performance under listed test conditions.

Barrel, Hop-Up, and Shooting System

The Archwick L119A2 is equipped with a 270mm precision-honed 6.03mm inner barrel and 60-degree hop-up bucking. The adjustable hop-up system allows the rifle to be tuned for the user’s preferred BB weight and local power requirements.

The gas blowback system is based on the Tokyo Marui MWS operating format, upgraded through Archwick’s Type A internal components and now paired with the AWS magazine platform. The result is a collectible rifle that is also built for practical shooting, maintenance, and long-term support.
